Beyond Wonderland Recap
Sooo for those of you who didn’t get a chance to go, I am terribly sorry. Beyond Wonderland KILLED it this year. Words cannot describe how epic the scene was. We start our 5 hour journey to San Bernardino from Phoenix AZ… 5 hours isn’t too bad. Shitty part? RAIN. RAIN AND COLD. Did that stop us though? NEVER!! We will never give up on the pursuit to hear some kick as electronic dance music!
Swirling lights everywhere, fire breathing metal sculptures, dancers dressed as little ducks, sheep, and other crazy trippy characters. It was impossible not to feel warm from all the love that was pouring out of this event, you could barely tell it was only like 40 degrees outside. It was also impossible to decide who to go see. It was an incredible talent filled line up on every stage and it was so hard to choose, but we did our best! Front and center for my favorite Norman Doray, Moguai, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike, Hardwell, ATB, Arty, Gareth Emery, and yes Armin Van Buuren. Here are a few of my favorite pics from the show! Try not to miss out on what of the best events of the year next time!

It is taking electronic dance music to the next level. Now is the time for dance music! The fact of the matter is UMF is the world’s premiere electronic music festival. The Olympics for electronic dance music (EDM)! It is so rare to have an event like this where all the best DJs and producers in the WORLD come together and play. Armin Van Buuren pres. Gaia – J’ai Envie De Toi
This man seriously cannot be beat. Armin Van Buuren previewed his new track J’ai Envie De Toi on ASOT 547. The track will be one of many listed on the upcoming A State of Trance 2012 CD set to be released March 5th. We’ll definitely be doing a favorites review once that CD is released, but until then enjoy this preview ripped from episode 547! It has the typical tone of one of Armin’s powerful and more spiritual tracks. Wait for 2:28 for the full experience! Cheers

Beyond Wonderland has been growing every year as one of Insomniac‘s music festivals that rivals EDC. Taking place this March 17th in San Bernardino, California the one day event is definitely worth your buck of a mere $80 for GA tickets to see big name artists such as Armin Van Buuren, Dirty South, Gareth Emery, Magnetic Man, Arty, An21 & Max Vangelli, Dubfire, Steve Aoki, Aly & Fila, and the list goes on and on. What’s even more exciting is that Armin Van Buuren‘s set will be celebrating the tremendous feat of 550 A State of Trance Episode, which selectively chose this event as one of few performances in his ASOT 550 World Tour! I went to this event last year and it was easily one of the most well decorated and themed festivals that I have ever been too. Not only are professionals and dancers alike dressed to the characters and themes of Alice in Wonderland, with a more satisfying more electronic take, the stages, lighting, sound, and artists are all superb! Emma Hewitt – Colours
A few weeks ago I remember reading somewhere that Emma Hewitt was going to be releasing her first album. I also remember being absolutely ecstatic with the news! Emma (yet another Australian!) has a long history with the trance community who share a deep love for her beautiful voice and passionate dedication towards the genre. It’s about due time we see some individual stuff from her. Below is her official music video highlighting the single Colours alongside her beautiful voice. This track is very laid-back and slow, but it would be a sin for me not to post it. If you’re looking for something more upbeat and powerful, try the remix of the song that Armin Van Buuren slaved over for months, trying to get it absolutely perfect in honor of Emma. A State of Trance Yearmix Release!
My second favorite day of the year has come, A State of Trance annual Yearmix has been just been released today! Following up Episode 540, which I posted 5 days ago, Episode 541 is the last ASOT Episode of the year. These 89 tracks from 2011 were hand selected by Armin Van Buuren and edited 4219 times to make up this epic 2 hour compilation! Mat Zo & Arty – Mozart (NEW MUSIC VIDEO)
Mat Zo has really been KILLING it lately, and knocking me off my feet; in a non-infatuated way that is. Even more exciting is the announcement made during his set interview at the benchmark Trance Around The World Episode 400 of new tracks to look out for around mid-April! Anyways, I digress, Arty is another favorite producer of mine who we’ll feature soon, but for now check out his uplifting new sound and video with Mat. Thanks Anjunabeats!

That’s right! Another very exciting year in Trance has come to a close. The Top 20 Trance tracks of the year is an episode I always impatiently look forward to. What makes it even more impressive is the fact that the beloved host Armin Van Buuren has nothing to do with the tracks selected! This year there were 16,550 valid and confirmed votes which produced the beautiful tracklist in A State of Trance Episode 540! Counting down from number 20, Armin just mixes the tracks together as chosen by we the people. Stay tuned for our upcoming post with the official ASOT yearmix episode!
